Position Summary

Diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment to spec, including brake and hydraulic, exhaust systems, steering and suspension.

Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:
Performs light tractor and trailer repairs following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Responsible for operating and maintaining mobile service truck in a safe efficient manner, on time schedule performance, perform PM’s and DOT’s for Truck and Trailer units. Evaluate time allowed for PM’s and DOTs, and related repairs. Ability to work with customers and fellow employees. Makes continue to operate, repair or replace decisions regarding customer equipment. Advises team of any field, safety, or customer concerns regarding mobile service. Must have valid drivers license and ability to work without supervision.


ESSENTAIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform light mechnical repairs, including, but not limited to replacing belts and hoses.
  2. Performs preventive maintenance (PM’s) and federal annual inspections on all equipment including technical repairs and related repair paperwork.
  3. Inspect, repair, and maintain truck and trailer, mechanical equipment and accessories such as pumps and compressors.
  4. Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
  5. Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
  6. Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
  7. Technically proficient in all areas of the service truck including trailer and parts administration.
  8. In absence of shop leadership, will provide coordination and leadership of all service truck activities.
  9. Decides whether component or subassembly can continue to operate or should be repaired/replaced.
  10. Assists in the maintenance of proper inventory tracking and utilization.
  11. Ensures that the proper paperwork is completed in areas including permits, inventory reductions, filing, etc.
  12. Performs preventive maintenance (PM’s) on trailer equipment including entry-level technical repairs and related repair paperwork.
  13. Required to drive commercial equipment on public roads (which would then require a Commercial Drivers License CDL).

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:

  • Generally requires 2 years verifiable experience in a truck maintenance facility or a two (2) year degree from a Technical College.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Mechanical -- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Repairing -- Repairing misc systems using the needed tools, including, but not limited to;, repairing lights, mud flaps, mirrors, , clutch,belt and brake adjustments, windshield wiper components.
  • Equipment Maintenance -- Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Quality Control Analysis -- Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Installation -- Installing lights, belts, hoses and the removal of truck/trailer components.
  • Operation Monitoring -- Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates effective organizational, reasoning, problem solving abilities and time management skills. Must be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision. Must possess the ability to work well with others. Possess evidence of the ability to effectively communicate both orally and written with store personnel, administrative office personnel, and customers. Must be able to handle continuous stressful situations in effective manner.


General Statement: Will be required to work in a stressful environment while maintaining a encouraging attitude towards all customers and employees. Responsible for continuous physical effort, including frequent bending, walking, manipulation of and heavy lifting of equipment. Work in customer yards in all types of weather and ground conditions.
